Netflix for Toys - Summer'23 - The Gentle Nudge
Happy Sunday late Monday / early Tuesday!
Jennifer and I are caravanning across California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. We had absolutely no internet over the weekend, but this open-air, tuna, chickpeas, avocado salad, eaten surrounded by giant sequoias, was heavenly. No regrets.
Back to our regular programming. Here is Maciek’s update #7.

See you in two weeks! (taking a week off with my fam)
Love your tip about recruiting.
One of the core frameworks I follow is differentiate or die.
People have strong herd instincts - learning to zag when everyone zigs is a life hack. Some examples:
Are you good with numbers? Instead of competing for that chief economist of a bank job with all other math people, go into marketing where your skills are more unique (my literal life story).
Got to the best business school in the world? Skip on-campus recruiting, and reach out to the company you want to work for directly - why compete with 400 people just like you?
All job postings look polished and professional? Scribble a logo and get hundreds of high quality candidates (Maciek’s example above).
Get some rest Maciek, can’t wait to see your next update!

(non-Polish speakers - forgive this plug, but it’s an important hire)
Continuing with the recruiting theme: we are looking for a Head of Growth.
We are on a trajectory to make Mięsna Paczka the biggest e-grocery success story in Poland, and we need an A-player to lead our growth.
(or forward to the best Polish growth people in your network - ty!)
